When you install TMG 2010 on Windows Server with IE9 you might find that TMG console will not work.
That is caused by IE 9. In order to fix it follow steps:
Example: Change the line:
m_aPages [niPage].m_tdMain.style.paddingTop = ((m_nBoostUp < 0) ? -m_nBoostUp : 0) ;
into:
// m_aPages [niPage].m_tdMain.style.paddingTop = ((m_nBoostUp < 0) ? -m_nBoostUp : 0) ;
From script repository I did use in the past, VBscript which allows to clear EvenLog on Windows machine. I did use that on computers with Windows XP and Windows Server 2003. however, this script will work also on Windows 7 and Windows server 2008.
By default script clears EventLog on computer where script is executed. To clear logs on remote machine just modify variable strComputer and replace dot with name of the target machine.
Script will read all EvenLog files from machine and will go through them removing all events.
And here is script itself :
strComputer = "." Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:" _ & "{impersonationLevel=impersonate, (Backup, Security)}!\\" _ & strComputer & "\root\cimv2") Set colLogFiles = objWMIService.ExecQuery _ ("Select * from Win32_NTEventLogFile") For each objLogfile in colLogFiles objLogFile.ClearEventLog() Next
By default ADLDS does not allow to reset password on users created in ADLDS repository over connection without SSL. As sometimes there is a need to build test environment with ADLDS quick, SSL is the last thing which anyone would care about, especially if main thing to test is script automating password resets.
So, for convenience of the developers ADLDS allows to disable requirements for SSL connection to reset passwords. How to disable that reuqirement? See below how it was done on server where ADLDS was installed on port 50389:
To download file from URL I used following piece of code:
$fileURL = "http://server/file.zip" $fileName = "C:\Downloads\file.zip" $webclient = New-Object System.Net.WebClient $webclient.DownloadFile($fileURL,$fileName)
If you have to move Mozilla Thunderbird data from one computer to another, you can do it by simply copying files between computer.
Folder with Thunderbird profiles is located here:
%APPDATA%\Thunderbird\Profiles\
There will be at least one or more sub-folders with profile data.
What you need to copy is content of Thunderbird profile you want to migrate to new computer.
On destination computer install Thunderbird and in same folder there will be sub-folder with default profile.
Copy all file from source profile to destination and that’s it.
In case you want to create Thunderbird profile in different folder start Thunderbird with following command:
thunderbird -p
That will allow you to define location of the new profile.
How that helps with migrating Thunderbird between folders/drives or computers.
Here is one from friend of mine, very skilled Senior IT Engineer, Tomasz Jagiello. Some bugs he identified while working with VMware ESX 6.
VM running Windows 10 (x64) as the Guest OS is automatically reset after some hours (roughly a day). Reoccurs daily.
The thread said it also applied to Windows Server 2016 VMs.
There is an unrecoverable error that cause the VMkernel to shut down / restart / crash the virtual machine.
VMware ESX unrecoverable error: (vcpu-0) NOT_REACHED bora/devices/ahci/ahci_user.c:1530
Check if you’re using a para-virtual SATA adapter in the settings of the VM.
There is a VMware bug where if the SATA adapter receives SMART communications on a non-SMART device the CPU bus locks up and ESX reboots the VM.
I was using SCSI for the VM disks and SATA for the VM CD-ROM.
